Best of Both Worlds
Bermuda is my home and no matter how beautiful and wonderful it looks, being in a different country is amazing based on the different opportunities I have that are not available back home. I have been very homesick this first semester, however I do not necessarily want to be stuck back home either. In this video, it shows the positive points in both, Tampa and Bermuda while the malfunctions represent my confliction between wanting to stay and be back home. In the Tampa shots, they are places I visit often and what I have become familiar with, which then warps and alternates between Bermuda in a sense of Deja Vu. Both places share similar environmental factors that remind me of home, but of course it is not home and those images then change into to remind me where my heart truly lies. In Bermuda, it shows the everyday beauty of the island that underlines the restrictions you have to broaden your experience and see new things.
There are so many opportunities in this world and I just want to travel and live my best life. I do not want to be trapped in one place forever, with no promise of a future. This video came pretty close to what I was picturing in my head, minus the lack of knowledge in technology to fully carryout the transitions or audio affects I wanted. I was lucky to find a program that had the visual effects I wanted, otherwise I would have had to come up with a different idea for my video. The inspiration came to me as I was walking on the riverwalk with my friends and I was just taking in how my life is today and how drastically different it could be in a place that looks similar to my home.
